Familial relationships

One of my resolutions was to work on my relationships with family (mom and others), friends, and Tara (I guess she would be considered family now, but I mean blood, not acquired).

For my family, I want to call at least one family member once per week. This might seem easy to those of you who speak to your family on a regular basis, but you might remember from this post, that I don't chat with my family but once every few months. This weekend will be my first call. Hat tip to my dad who implemented this strategy and says it has worked wonders for him (he has a reminder on his phone to ring every Saturday). My mom and I are starting to work on things, so that's good.

As for the friends, what I want to do is cultivate friendships outside of my relationship with Tara. Let me explain, normally, I only hang out with people when I'm with Tara. This is because (1) I hang out with Tara whenever I have any free time and (2) I'm pretty uncomfortable in social settings by myself. So, I want to either talk to or hang out with friends outside of Tara at least once every 2 weeks (although, now that school has started, this may get pushed to physically hanging out once a month). These don't have to be "new" friends; they can be old/current friends, but I would like to have my "own" friends, though (like Tara does).

As far as my relationship with Tara, well, I'm already working on that. We're doing great, BTW. I just need to maintain and keep things fresh. Over the next 2 months, though, we will be moving back in together, so I expect it to bring new challenges up. It will be interesting to see how we overcome them (which we will!).

So, that's the relationship side of things...

Gotta have a plan, man...

I planning to explain, in detail, what I'm planning (planning on planning - love that!) on doing for my 07 resolutions/life changes, but, I just haven't gotten around to doing that yet. Instead of waiting around (i.e. not posting), I figure I'll get to the nitty-gritty and start writing/posting.

So, I'm working on taking control of my health, right? One aspect of this includes losing weight and getting into shape (I guess that would actually be two aspects, but no need for technicalities). I know that this is THE resolution for, like, EVERYBODY (scroll to the bottom for poll results). And usually, a good majority of people fail or give up. I'm not too worried about that.

Why? I'm so glad that you asked. Let me tell you...

First - I actually made this a priority in December - not very easy with multiple varieties of cheesecake and eggnog ( my holiday favs!) within easy reach. In other words, it's not something I pulled out of my butt on December 31st.

Second - Not only did I make it a priority, I started implementing my plan (planning is key to me, you see) around the first week of December and working on it.

Third - I made my goals attainable and achievable (redundant, I know).

Stay tuned for detailed explanations...*
