I am at the library right now (research already!) and somebody near me smells. Like old people in nursing homes. You know that smell. It's the type of smell that you don't know if it's body odor, dirty diapers, or cleaning supplies. I always fear that it's a combination of both. More likely, it's body odor. And that's just nasty! (not body odor, that someone next to me smells that way!) Ugh!

Moth balls?! That's rich! It was some dude that smelled funky. I think it was his hair product...

Well, that doesn't come as a surprise. I think people can be as clueless about about the aroma they are admitting as they can be about how they look or what they wear.
There is this guy who regularly rides the bus on my route on the way to the city of York who hasn't caught on to the new trend that washing with water is here to stay. It may be his clothes or it may be himself, who knows? The point is that regardless of what seat I am sitting in or which direction it is facing (to the front or to the back), I know when he gets on and when he gets off. That, and he is always "itchy"--not in that perverted way, I mean in the "there are too many dead skin cells" way. I wonder if I suggested a shower to him, whether he would take it up.

Ha! I had to laugh out loud on that one.
I would watch it, though, he might get offended that you think his fabulous odor is not so fabulous. But then, maybe he'll move somewhere else on the bus.

at the library, we get people that have a less than desirable smell all the time. mostly it seems to happen at the libraries that are closest to bus lines. even when my nose is stuffed because of my allergies i can unfortunately still smell the potent scent :-( i feel for ya.
I used to work at a library, and we would name the regulars. My favorite was Ivan the Great. And my least favorite was Mrs. Peabody. She definitely lived up to her name!
There was a weekly free festival that they had outside the library. All of the drunk revelors would come into the library to use the bathrooms. It was great fun to watch everyone because drunks are hysterical.
