Traveling on a budget

I have this love of travel, right. But, I don't get to travel much *cough - at all - cough*, because of a little thing called MONEY. Realistically, I know that I can travel on a cheap budget, but there is some serious work involved with doing it that way and, sometimes, I don't know where to start.

Amanda over at Young and Broke has just made things a little easier for me. She's doing a weekly series on major travel planning on a budget. She's breaking down the series a follows:

- Research
- Budgeting/Saving
- Reservations
- Itinerary
- Spending

Since Amanda's a personal finance (pf) nerd as well, the post on budgeting was very useful.

'T' and I are planning a trip to PR next year. Hopefully, I'll be able to implement some of Amanda's suggestions and have a great vacation without blowing the budget.
