I occasionally like to make a list of things that I want to do in my life – hence the title of the blog - however it’s been a while since I’ve updated it. Because, really, are meeting Strawberry Shortcake and Rainbow Brite viable goals?
Most of my goals fall into two categories:
1. Learning some type of skill/activity - I'll post on this today.
2. Traveling.
Everything else is miscellaneous (how true this really is…).
Learn something new every year
I have promised myself that every year I am going to learn something new. I have no idea how I’m going to afford this, as I have no money, but if I wait until I have money, something else will always take priority and I’ll never do it. So here’s the list:
• Dance – Belly dance; Ballroom dance – specifically the tango, the paso doble, and the quick step; and Salsa – I realize that this falls into the previous dance, but I’m Puerto Rican, so I want to learn it ghetto boricua style.
• Ride a horse – always something that I’ve wanted to do.
• Certified SCUBA diver – There’s a story behind this. I have a healthy fear of things in the water. When I was a little kid in south Florida, I went snorkeling all the time. One time, there was this HUGE coral formation (I was 10, everything’s huge at that age.) and my mom made me swim over it. I was so scared of what was behind it – y’know, giant octopuses, squids, or Jaws – that I was scarred for life. The only way that I can get over this fear is to hit it head on. So, I need to learn how to dive. Plus there’s really cool things in the water.
• Surf – do I really need to explain this?
• Mountain / Rock climbing – To spend a year doing this, as with the previous desire, I need to live somewhere where there is easy accessibility. Yet another reason to learn this activity.
• Speak 5 different languages – The number is arbitrary. I’d really like to learn as many as possible. Specifically, I’d like to learn Spanish and Greek. Italian and French seem good to me also. I already know English and I have a (very) basic understanding of Spanish, so I’m off to a good start. I suppose if I just learned Latin, it would take care of quite a few languages.
• Bass guitar – I always thing bass players are so cool. My buddy Amanda is a bass player and she ROCKS!
