Dreams deferred?

My buddies (is that an accurate term for blogging friends whom you've never met, but feel a camaraderie with?), Claire & Lara of Tripping on Words and hatetohelp, posted this video and I am green - absolutely green - with envy.



I'm not mad at C&L because they are *fabulous* people. And I'm not really jealous of them, just jealous of their ability to travel all over the world. Maybe you, my dear readers, have figured out that this is a dream of mine. An yet, for various reasons, I have hindered myself from traveling.

The last trip I took was summer of 2000 when I went to both Hawaii and Ecuador. It was fun, I had a blast, and I LOVED it.

And, I haven't been anywhere since.

This makes me super sad, but also super determined. One thing that's holding me back, IMO, is my debt and the responsibility that comes with that debt. Because of said debt, I make myself work (There are other reasons why I work, too, d'uh) and not just be a student. I have given myself an unofficial goal to be done with my Master's (or at least the primary coursework) by the time I'm 30 AND to have the debt paid off. I think this will allow me to be a bit more flexible with my life. Only thing, though, is that's in 2 years!

Something else I have to do is realise that my dream can happen and not say "someday I'll do this," which is what I do all the time. So, Tara and I have to get our shit together and figure out what we need to do to make my dreams (yes, and hers, too) happen.
